Skateboard for kids — in 51, 61 and 71 cm
A skateboard for children is shorter and lighter than a board for adults. That makes steering easier and pushing less hard work. At Apollo you choose from three lengths — 51, 61 and 71 cm — all fully assembled and ready to ride, with prints ranging from dinosaurs and astronauts to graffiti and doughnuts.
Which length do you choose?
Rule of thumb: the smaller the child, the shorter the board. A shorter deck is lighter and easier to handle; a longer deck stands more stable and lasts longer as your child grows.
51 cm
the shortest and lightest board
61 cm
the most commonly chosen size
71 cm
most standing room, grows along
If you are torn between two sizes, choose the longer one: children grow into them faster than out of them. Is your child ready for an adult-sized board? Then have a look at the 31-inch complete boards.
Frequently asked questions
Is the board already assembled?
Yes. The boards are supplied fully assembled — trucks, wheels and bearings are fitted. Unpack and ride.
What protective gear is needed?
For children we recommend a helmet, knee pads and wrist guards from the very first metre. Our protection set for children contains knee and elbow pads; you will find an adjustable skate helmet there as well.
Where is the best place for my child to start?
On a flat, smooth surface without traffic — an empty car park, a school yard or a quiet cycle path. Learn to stand still and step off first, and only then to push and steer.
What if the board pulls to one side?
Then the trucks are tighter on one side. With a T-tool you turn the kingpin until they match — a quarter turn is often enough. You will find tools under accessories.
