Suspension, wheels & folding mechanism — what to look for
Wheel size
125 mm — light and agile, ideal for younger children on smooth surfaces.
145 mm — a good all-rounder for the school run and the city.
200 mm — maximum comfort, rolls smoothly over bumps, recommended for teenagers and adults.
Suspension
A scooter with suspension absorbs shocks and spares your wrists and back — particularly worthwhile from 145 mm wheels upwards or on longer distances. For children under 8 on smooth surfaces, suspension is optional.
Folding mechanism
All Apollo scooters fold away and are height-adjustable. Thanks to the one-click folding mechanism they are easy to take to school and onto public transport.
Frequently asked questions about scooters
What is the difference between a scooter and a stunt scooter?
Scooters are made for everyday use: folding, with suspension and large wheels (145–200 mm). Stunt scooters are rigid, lighter and designed for tricks in the skatepark.
Which wheel size suits which age?
Children (5–10 years): 100–145 mm. Teenagers from 12 years and adults: 145–200 mm. Larger wheels roll more comfortably over bumps.
Do I need a scooter with suspension?
For a daily school run over uneven surfaces we recommend suspension — it spares your joints and makes longer distances considerably more comfortable. On smooth surfaces, suspension is optional.
Are Apollo scooters certified?
Yes. All Apollo scooters meet the EN 14619 standard and are tested and certified.
