Roller skates (quad skates) have four wheels in a square pattern — they are more stable for beginners and children and perfect for indoors, dancing and relaxed outdoor skating. Inline skates have their wheels in a single line and are better suited to faster riding, longer distances and the skatepark. Ice skates are for the ice — with firm ankle support and hardened, sharpened steel for rinks and winter sports.
Frequently asked questions about skates
What is the difference between roller skates and inline skates?
Roller skates have four wheels in a quad pattern (two at the front, two at the back) — which makes them more stable and more beginner-friendly. Inline skates have their wheels lined up one behind the other and ride faster and more dynamically. For children we often recommend roller skates as the first skate.
From what age are skates suitable?
Our children's roller skates and inline skates are suitable from approx. 3–4 years, as soon as children can walk steadily. All children's models have adjustable sizes and fastenings that grow along. For ice skates we recommend approx. 5 years.
Are Apollo skates suitable for beginners?
Yes — all Apollo skates are designed as entry-level models: ready to ride out of the box, with sturdy boots and a safe wheel system. We always recommend protective gear on top, especially for children.
What protective gear do I need for skating?
Knee pads, wrist guards and a helmet as a minimum. Apollo offers matching protection sets directly in the shop — for children and adults.
