What to look at on a stunt scooter
The rigid deck
That a stunt scooter does not fold is not a cost saving. A folding hinge would sit exactly where the forces meet on every landing — it would be the weak point. That is why the deck is one piece.
The bearings
ABEC is a tolerance class: the higher the number, the more precisely the bearing is made. An ABEC 9 bearing therefore runs rounder and more smoothly than one in a lower class. It says nothing about how much weight the bearing carries — those are two separate things. Six of the seven models have ABEC 9.
The fork and the bars
The fork takes the hardest hits when you ride tricks. On every model whose product sheet names the material, it is a steel fork; on the Eagle an optimised version. The Star Pro, the Genesis Pro X and the Competition have a bar height of 80 cm. The deck of the Genesis Pro X and the Competition measures 50 x 10.8 cm, with a bar width of 54 cm and an IHC headset.
Anodised aluminium
Anodising is an electrochemical treatment of aluminium that creates a hard, wear-resistant layer. The Star Pro and the Eagle are built this way.
Frequently asked questions about stunt scooters
What is the difference between a stunt scooter and a normal scooter?
A stunt scooter is rigid, does not fold and is built for the skatepark — with small, hard wheels of 100 or 110 mm and a one-piece deck. A normal scooter does fold, has suspension and larger wheels for the street. The two are not interchangeable.
Which stunt scooter suits a seven-year-old?
The Gravity and the Hawk are suitable from six years and so cover that age. The Star Pro and the Eagle are specified from ten years. More important than the age is whether your child can stand steadily on the deck and push off in a controlled way.
How high are the bars on a stunt scooter?
On the Star Pro, the Genesis Pro X and the Competition it is 80 cm. Stunt scooter bars are deliberately fixed: that gives more feel in your tricks than adjustable bars.
What does ABEC 9 mean?
ABEC is the tolerance class of the ball bearing and says how precisely it is made. The higher the number, the rounder and smoother it runs. ABEC 9 is the highest class we carry in this category.
How much weight does a stunt scooter take?
Every model whose product sheet gives a figure takes up to 100 kg. That makes them suitable for teenagers and adults as well.
